Achievements of the Association in the Year 2002-2003
STATE LEVEL COMMITTEEThe President & Mrs. Kajal Anand, the Vice President of BSSIA had been invited to attend the State Level Committee Set up the State Government of Maharashtra for further development of Small Industries in the State of Maharashtra to reduce the unemployment. We are the only from SSI Sector.
EXCISE EXEMPTION TO READYMADE GARMENTSOn the recommendation of BSSIA, the Central Government has provided exemption to Readymade Garments & provided Full exemption to certain process of Manufacture incorporated in the Chapter Note of Chapter 61 & 62.
The Central Government had invited our PRESIDENT on this issue at New Delhi & based on our plea Notification 38/2003-C.E. was issued.
WITHDRAWAL OF STATE VALUE ADDED TAX (STATE VAT)Our Association has played very important role. We had joined our hands with Federation of Associations of Maharashtra (FAM) and Trade Association of State of Maharashtra to withdraw this DRACONIAN - CANCEROUS and un-human Law.
SUPPORTS TO STEEL TRADERS FOR WITHDRAWL OF VATWe supported the agitation of Steel Traders for withdrawal of State VAT imposed on Ferrous Metals.
MEMBER OF SSI BOARD AT NATIONAL LEVELThe Central Government has co-opted this Association as member of SSI Board for framing the Policy matter for the Development of SSI. It is for Two Years as per Notification issued. We are the only SSI on this Board from Maharashtra.
PARTICIPATION IN 2nd GLOBAL VENDOR 2003-EXHIBITION HELD AT SISIOur Association played the important Role for arranging the vendor programme Cum-Exhibition held at SISI, Saki Naka, between 20th February to 23RD February 2003 in Association with SISI, AIAI & BIA, Secretary (SSI), Additional Secretary & Development Commissioner (SSI), Industry Advisor (SSI) and Foreign delegates along with Local People had visited the Exhibition.
PARLIAMENTARY SUB-COMMITTEEInvited by Parliamentary Sub-Committee at New Delhi on 27th January 2003 to delibrate with Members of Parliament, Chairman of various Nationalised Banks, Senior Officers of State Bank of India in the matter of Credit Facility to Small Scale Industries.
THE SSI CONVENTIONPresident Invited to attend the Award Giving Function at THE SSI CONVENTION, NEW DELHI held on 28th August, 2003.
LIFE MEMBERS INCREASED36 SSI Units old and new joined this Association as LIFE-MEMBERS in the year 2002-2003. We have now 185 LIFE MEMBERS on our records, who have Voluntarily, joined to strengthen the Association Financially.

Achievements of the Past
Abolishing of Registration Fees for Central Excise Registration.
Exemption from payment of further Central Excise raised from Rs. 5 Lakhs to 15 Lakhs for Cosmetic, Air conditioner and also from Rs.7.50 Lakhs to Rs. 30 Lakhs and now Rs. 50 Lakhs.
JOB WORKERS are not required to pay Central Excise under Notification 214/86-CE dated 25-3-1986, 83/94-CE & 84/94-CE both dated 11-4-1994.
Removal of Service Tax imposed on SSI, Traders and Large Industries.
Removal of Interpration - treating certain Laboratory Instruments as Refrigeration & Air-Conditioner under 8419.00 and attraction of Duty @ 110%. They are now chargeable to lower rate of duty under 8419.00 as well as under other Headings.
Removal of Central Excise on Plastic Flat Tubings under 3917.00.
Induction of Pipes and Tubes of Iron and Steel, Copper and its alloys under exemption Notification for Exemption upto Rs. 30 Lakhs (now Rs. 50 Lakhs).
Simplification in many Rules of Central Excise
Carrying your Goods , in your own Motor Vehicle - upto Gross Vehicle Weight 3000 Kgs. Under Motor Vehicle Act, 1988.
Use of Tinted Glass - Colour Film having 70% Permissibility in the Front and Rear Windscreen and 50% form the side Fixed Window Glass (Door Glass are not treated as Window Glass) is not an offence under Motor Vehicle Act, 1988 (Rule 100 as amended).
Recently we agitated against the deterioration of Law and Order problems in Mumbai.
We are in process of removal of certain old Laws & Regulations , which are the main cause of corruption at the State level and with Municipal Authorities.
