This Association of Small Scale Industries came into existence due to the necessity of small scale entrepreneurs, on 8th March, 1986 after the presentation of Union Budget - 1986-87 at KRDN Trust Estate, Goregaon (East), Mumbai 400 063. It was christened by the 2000 entrepreneurs as the "BOMBAY SMALL SCALE INDUSTRIES ASSOCIATION". Since then it has been serving the Small Scale Industries of India. The representatives elected by the Democratic Agencies are those connected with procedures related to Regulations, Taxation, Revenue, Imports, Exports and other departments.
The main activities of B.S.S.I.A. are:
To organize meetings with Government Dignitaries.
To conduct Seminars and Exhibitions.
To co-ordinate between Small Scale Industries and Policy Makers on the Government front.
To conduct programs on imparting of training for proper filing of various returns to Government Agencies.
To conduct programs on imparting of knowledge to get the members registered with various bodies for marketing of their products.
B.S.S.I.A. also has representatives on Regional Advisory Committees of Central Excise, Mumbai-I, II, III, IV, V & VI to effectively resolve the difficulties of various Members regarding Central Excise matters.
